Maokong mountain is featured in most “thing you have to do in Taipei” lists and therefore me and mum took a chance to visit. (You can read more here or here.) We wasn’t as lucky with the weather as we were the day we went up in Taipei 101, but rain and clouds can be charming in their own way too.
We took the cable cars up the mountain, ate lunch and took a walk in the rain. We got lost and met another expat just as lost as we and we walked around together. After a while we realized that we had just walked in a circle and we decided to go down to the city again.
How to get there: Take the Taipei metro to Hsingchu Zoo station.
Food: We ate at the first place selling food, if we would have walked more far away I think we could have found a nicer place.
